An online survey was conducted among technology industry alliance practitioners in February 2009 in order to assess the impact of current economic conditions.  Respondents were employees of both large and small companies/divisions ranging in size from less than $10M in revenues to more than $1B. Among others, respondents’ companies included more than 40% of Fortune’s Global 500 software, computer/office equipment, networking, and IT services firms. More than 75% of those surveyed report that their companies/divisions expect 2009 to be a growth year in spite of current economic conditions. Also, respondents expect their companies/divisions to depend more on alliances and partnerships than in 2008 in order to achieve this growth. Yet alliance executives are challenged to meet these expectations given increasingly limited resources and continuing perception issues.
